How it all began...

Tucked away in the beautiful green fields of the Annan Valley in Dumfries and Galloway is the Lockerbie Creamery where we’ve been making great Scottish Cheddar for generations.

About us
Cheddar with a wee bit of bite...

Our story begins over 50 years ago in a countryside creamery, nestled alongside the River Annan in Lockerbie. It’s here we first took a unique and traditional cheese recipe, handed down through the years, and perfected it into award-winning Cheddar.

Family favourite
Once we set to work, our reputation for making delicious Scottish Cheddar spread quickly and in 1975 we moved to a bigger creamery that was opened by the Queen. It was three times the size of the place where we first made our ‘Cheddar with a wee bit of bite’ but we still crafted cheese the traditional way. The extra space meant we could welcome in the local community and share our cheese making expertise. Something we’re still proud to do today.

Our farmers
The Lockerbie Creamery is part of Milk Link, a network of 2,200 farmers, which returns profits to farmers to ensure a sustainable future. We get our milk from local farmers which means the very best ingredients go into making our cheese and butter.

Our cheesemakers
Our skilled cheesemakers take pride in their work, so you can enjoy the finest flavours that Scottish cheese has to offer. From pasteurising the milk to milling the curds, our specialists take the time and care to ensure Lockerbie Creamery customers enjoy nothing less than the best-tasting Scottish Cheddar.

Our grader
Our award-winning grader, Graham Nichol, is extremely fussy about cheese. He personally makes sure all Lockerbie Creamery Cheddar meets his high requirements for flavour, texture, appearance and aroma.

Great taste
The delicious, sweet flavour of our Cheddar is a firm favourite and we’ve grown to be a key supplier to all the major supermarkets and the food industry. Why not take a look around our website and find out more about Lockerbie Creamery products and where you can buy them?
