Lockerbie Records Strong Performance at World’s Largest Cheese Show
The Lockerbie Creamery in Dumfriesshire won both the Reserve Supreme Champion (UK)
trophy for its Mature Cheddar and the Danisco Trophy for Best Vegetarian Cheddar at
the prestigious Nantwich International Cheese Show.
Commenting on this latest set of results, Ian Roy from the Lockerbie Creamery, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled that the quality of our cheeses has been recognised at the
highly regarded Nantwich International Cheese Show.
Best butter in show
What better way to start the summer than having our butter win Supreme Champion
at the Royal Highland Show? In addition to scooping such a prestigious award, we’re
particularly pleased that our Cheddar earned a heap of awards too. Lockerbie Creamery
mature Cheddar won two bronzes and our butter won three silver awards and one bronze.
The 4-day show saw a record attendance of over 176,000 visitors and we were delighted
to welcome friends old and new.
Bluetooth boosts visitors at RHS
This year was the first year we used Bluetooth technology to welcome visitors to the
Lockerbie Creamery stand. Everyone within 100 metres of us automatically got a message
on their mobile phone inviting them to come over. Marketing Director, Hamish Renton
said, "From free Cheddar tasting to cheese sculpting - what better way to invite
people to come and join us than by using the latest technology? This just shows
we’re bang up to date."
Dynamic new look
The Lockerbie Creamery has had a makeover. Our new blue packaging and distinctive
design highlights the fact that it’s not just Cheddar but ‘Cheddar with a wee bit of bite’.
We’ve kept the traditional Celtic knot we’ve always used but added a contemporary new
look to help you find us at the supermarket. Don’t worry, it’s still the same great
tasting cheese and butter but with new and improved packaging. Look out for it in all
major supermarkets. We hope you like it.
